Clark County continues to rock out with its Barack out, and there's big news today in Washoe County, too. Yes, the voting total trends continue to inspire. Additionally, the Washoe County Election Department has decided to publish party affiliation data each day along with early voting totals. We can now see each day how many Republicans and Democrats (and "others") cast ballots each day.
Of course, these numbers don't necessarily mean every Democrat who voted voted for Obama, and every Republican voted for McCain. But, with polls showing that Obama is capturing ~90% of Dems, and McCain capturing ~88% of Repugs nationally, it would seem to do little harm to simply assume a 1:1 ratio for each side.
Remember, Washoe County is essentially a split county as far as voter registrations are concerned, with Democrats holding a 1,300 registered voter advantage (Clark County, you'll remember, is +127,000 for Democrats).
Now for the pretty spreadsheets:
UPDATE: Oh no! Embedded Google Spreadsheets don't work here. You'll have to click. It's worth it, though. I promise.
Washoe County
Holy shit, right? Check out Clark County:
Clark County
Okay, and here's the real kicker. Sarah Palin was in Reno (Washoe County) and Henderson (Clark County) today doing rallies with the explicit purpose of getting their supporters out to vote. Today. As in, "when you leave this rally, go vote right now." The rallies were strategically located within walking distance of an early voting polling place (any resident in either county can vote at any location within that county). So, did it work?
Look over the numbers again, and decide for yourself.
Okay, no. I'll decide for you. You can see that even with Palin's rally in Reno, 1000 more Democrats voted than Republicans.
In Clark County, Mobile Team 9 was stationed at the Paseo Verde Library, just a couple of blocks away from Palin's rally at the Henderson Pavilion. Here are Mobile Team 9's vote totals from an Albertson's grocery store in the three days before Palin:
Day 1: 1051 votes
Day 2: 980 votes
Day 3: 1260 votes
And then, today, when Mobile Team 9 was essentially stationed at the Palin rally:
723 votes.
13 of the 21 other voting locations around Clark County had larger vote totals today.
Here's another thing: I just found the PDF file (click "Party and District Turnout Summary") that Clark County uses to report party breakdowns of people who've early voted each day. (Yay, me!)
Through Monday, 40,625 Democrats had voted, and 17,509 Republicans voted. After today, and after Caribou Barbie's appearance, the numbers were 50,589 Dems and 23,633 Reps.
9,964 Democrats voted today. Only 6,124 Republicans did.
Wow.
